Sunday, April 19, 2009 Cruising Day 35

We start 2 days at sea to reach Shanghai, China.  The weather has turned cold.  We’ve gone from 40C to 25C in a matter of days.  I’m back to wearing long pants :-).

IMGP2202 We’re lazing about the ship today.  Gert of course, headed to the culinary centre to watch another cooking demonstration about Asia appetizers and then spent another hour talking to the chef of the Pinnacle (Chef Ben).  They appear to have become friends and they were talking about living and rice farming in Thailand.  (I don’t ask too many questions :-)).

I finished knitting Gert’s vest.  I have to press it and sew it together then complete the neck and sleeves.

We watched a show this evening.  It was called “Gold” preformed by the Volendam singers and dancers – it was very good and we really enjoyed it.

A new captain has come on board, so we had the captains toast before the show – new captain is called Pieter Visser.  We don’t think he’s a relative but one never knows.  We know there are more Mariner events coming up so we’ll ask.
